botanical being
I began the “Botanical Being” series in Dec 2016. I rented one of the grow rooms from the Concordia University Greenhouse where I work as a staff photographer. Part of the series was also completed during an artist residency at the Vermont Studio Center in June 2017. Through portraiture I use the body to create botanical landscapes that integrate elements from nature. These are usually foraged from a nearby forest, field, garden or market. To date I’ve used: branches, leaves, feathers, flowers, petals, fruits, bark, water, weeds, paper, textile fibers and a nursing log. The final triptych was completed at Les Rencontres d'Arles in August 2019.
